Job Summary:

The Technical & Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing the design, engineering, and production processes in a steel fabrication environment. This role ensures that all structural and mechanical steel projects meet industry standards, client specifications, and production timelines. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in steel fabrication, PEB (Pre-Engineered Buildings), hot-rolled structural steel, and manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Engineering & Design Management

  • Oversee the structural and mechanical design process, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and client requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise for steel fabrication, welding, and material selection.
  • Ensure designs are optimized for cost-effectiveness and production efficiency.
  • Work closely with clients, consultants, and project teams to finalize technical specifications.

2. Production & Manufacturing Support

  • Coordinate with the production team to ensure seamless transition from design to fabrication.
  • Ensure the use of advanced fabrication techniques, including CNC machining, plasma cutting, and robotic welding.
  • Monitor and enhance manufacturing processes to improve productivity and quality.

3. Quality Control & Compliance

  • Ensure that all projects comply with international steel codes and safety standards (ASTM, AISC, BS, ISO, etc.).
  • Implement QA/QC procedures to maintain high-quality steel products.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions for production defects.

4. Project Management & Execution

  • Oversee multiple steel projects, ensuring on-time delivery and budget adherence.
  • Collaborate with procurement, supply chain, and project managers to align engineering requirements with materials availability.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, reports, and technical evaluations.

5. Research & Development

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in steel fabrication processes.
  • Introduce new technologies, automation, and lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Evaluate new materials and fabrication methods to enhance efficiency.

6. Team Leadership & Training

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, draftsmen, and production supervisors.
  • Conduct technical training sessions to upskill employees and enhance industry knowledge.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and technical excellence.

Qualifications & Experience:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Metallurgy.
  • A Master's degree or PMP certification is a plus.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in steel fabrication, structural steel, or PEB manufacturing.
  • Proven expertise in design engineering, fabrication techniques, and manufacturing processes.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of structural analysis, welding techniques, and steel detailing.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, STAAD Pro, and CNC programming.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems for production planning.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication and coordination with cross-functional teams.
