Job Details

Key Relationships

Internal: Senior Service Technician, Service Admin, Service Manager, Operations Manager and Managing Director (if necessary)

External: Clients/customers, Site Project Managers (if necessary)

Accountabilities

  1. Assist senior service technician in equipment installation, maintenance and repairs
  2. Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks
  3. Troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment malfunctions

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Comply with Primepower servicing schedules and procedures
  2. Ensure all equipment is prepared for hire in compliance with Primepower 'Green Card' procedure
  3. Ensure all work performed reports are approved by client (on site) and are legibly produced
  4. Ensure immediate response and minimal disruption to client's requirements
  5. Ensure good housekeeping of work area and service vehicle
  6. Maintain a minimum spares level in service vehicle as per procedures
  7. Effective troubleshooting to minimise downtime and unnecessary repair costs
  8. Customer satisfaction externally & internally
  9. Compliance to QHSE & ISO Standards and Procedures
  10. Compliance with 24 hour call – out policy
  11. Any other duties considered essential for effective operations and service.

Specialized Training/Knowledge Required

  1. Able to work long hours in demanding conditions under pressure

  4. Effective troubleshooting capability
  5. Ability to read electrical drawings
  6. Possession of driving license essential
  7. Capable of basic administration and working to written procedure

Qualifications

  1. College Degree in a Mechanical or Electrical field or Industrial Training Institute qualifications
  2. Grade 10 or 12 clarification
  3. Previous Experience with Cummins/Iveco/Scania Diesel Generator engines
  4. Must hold an official Mechanical and Electrical trade qualification from a recognized organization
  5. Proficiency with generator controllers including PCC 2100, PCC 3100, PCC 3200, PCC 3300 and DSE 8000 series, with training certificates from courses attended in programming
  6. Demonstrated track record in rebuilding Cummins engines, including KTA50, KTA38, KSQ23, QSX15, QSG12, NTA855, QSL9, 6BTA, and 4BT
  7. Accredited high voltage qualification from a recognized organization
  8. Completion of high voltage switching courses
  9. Familiarity with the generator load testing process

Experience

  1. Minimum 3 years of experience relevant role or related field
  2. Dealer experience (Cummins and Caterpillar)
  3. Previous experience in the rental industry
  4. Prior experience working with diesel generator power plants
