Your Tasks

  • Understand, analyze, and translate business requirements into long-term solution data models;
  • Evaluate existing data systems and generate physical, logical, and conceptual data models;
  • Understand Enterprise Data Model (Subject Areas, Data Domain, Business Entities, key Attributes) along with business processes;
  • Have knowledge of industry-based standard data models such as PPDMS, Microsoft Common Data model, and OSDU;
  • Work with the DIM and Application Development team to implement data strategies, build data flows, and develop conceptual data models;
  • Create conceptual, logical, and physical data models using best practices to ensure high data quality and reduced redundancy by using ERWIN, Informatica EDC, and Informatica Axon;
  • Optimize and update conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support new and existing projects and applications while leading in enterprise data modeling;
  • Make recommendations for standardization and proper data usage. Champion the usage of data in business and communicate the benefits and return on investment for application and product owners;
  • Maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models along with corresponding metadata;
  • Develop best practices for standard naming conventions and coding practices to ensure consistency of data models using COMPANY Data Modelling standards;
  • Improve COMPANY Data Modelling Standards where possible;
  • Review data models for DDP use cases and integrate with the enterprise data model;
  • Recommend opportunities for reuse of data models in new environments from existing data models;
  • Perform reverse engineering of physical data models from databases and SQL scripts as well as on NoSQL based systems;
  • Evaluate data models and physical databases for variances and discrepancies;
  • Validate business data objects for accuracy and completeness;
  • Analyze data-related system integration challenges and propose appropriate solutions;
  • Guide System Analysts, Engineers, Programmers, vendors, and others on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces;
  • Review modifications to existing software to improve efficiency and performance;
  • Examine new application design and recommend corrections if required;
  • Create a central data model repository and share data models with relevant stakeholders;
  • Integrate data model with enterprise data catalogue and business glossary.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a similar field;
  • Expertise in data modeling principles/methods including conceptual, logical & physical data models;
  • Strong experience in building enterprise data models with forward, reverse engineering, or mixed approaches for Oil & Gas;
  • Must have enterprise data modeling experience;
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical ideas, regardless of the audience's technical capacity;
  • 3-4 years of hands-on experience with data modeling tools ERWIN;
  • Knowledge and experience of RDBMS platforms (e.g., Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse, SQL Server, Oracle, NoSQL), Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio/draw.io;
  • Expert knowledge & experience of metadata management and related tools;
  • Good experience with NoSQL/JSON based schemas and common data models;
  • Strong experience and understanding of Azure Synapse and cloud-based data stores (MPP systems);
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Common Data Model & PPDMS;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Experience with team management;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills;
  • Knowledge of central data model repository with check-in and check-out concepts;
  • Good experience in Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog;
  • Software development experience in an agile environment where data models are not designed upfront;
  • Ability to utilize Business Intelligence tools (Power BI) to represent insights and validate the data models;
  • Experience in relational & dimensional modeling;
  • Experience in translating/mapping relational data models into JSON/XML and schemas.
