Ultrasound Technologist

Ensures high-quality of all images anddocuments sent to digital storage or PACS (image quality, correctmarkers, annotations, and patientdata/history).

Provides clinical orientation andhelps develop competencies for new Ultrasound Technologists joiningthe department as directed by the Medical ImagingManager.

Provides Ultrasound services withtechnique appropriate to paediatric, adolescent, adult, andgeriatric patients.

Responsible for thecoordination of patient exam flow through the department andassists the office staff, ER staff, Nursing staff with thescheduling of patients.

Maintains sonographic andother equipment in efficient operatingorder.

Operates radiologic equipment and performsrelated technical procedures.

Performs additionalmanager or supervisor assignedduties.

Provides monitoring, coachingand evaluation of team members' performance, especially inthe areas of productivity and qualitymanagement.

Serves as a positive role model byworking with team members to promote teamwork andcooperation.

Oversees equipment quality controltesting, maintenance, andtroubleshooting.

Handles delicate situations(fetal demise, cancerous pathology,) in a supportive and empatheticmanner ("good bedside manner"), while maintainingappropriate confidentiality regarding exam outcomes or potentialissues.

Prepares all the equipment for each testbefore it begins, such as inserting needles into patients for bloodtests and checking that tubes are connectedproperly.

Responsible for using a machine that islike an ultrasound but with differentcontrols.

After tests, analyzes data, and makesinformed decisions about how to proceed with each case, such aswhether surgery is needed.
