Reporting to the ChiefEngineer, responsibilities and essential job functions include butare not limited to the following: • Complete maintenancework orders from all departments on a timely basis by followinghotels standard operating procedures • Perform day-to-dayroutine and preventative maintenance within the hotel rooms andpublic areas • Respond promptly and efficiently to anymaintenance calls that arise by either the guest or otherdepartments • Respond courteously to guest requestspromptly and resolve matters to the guest’s satisfaction• Able to prioritize the maintenance issues e.g. to attendthe breakdown of plant and machinery on priority • Performmaintenance activities in the guest rooms and public areasincluding electrical equipment, plumbing and Air conditioning• Program TV's and perform general housekeepingand engineering-related inventory duties • Test,troubleshoot and perform basic repair on all types of equipment• To monitor fire Alarm / Life Safety System systems asnecessary, to be fully informed of the system operation and tohandle emergencies involving the systems • Understand andoperate electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and water systems• Communicate with different departments and to providethem with information and assistance • Check for newmaintenance requests e.g. OOO - Out of Service and OOO - Out ofOrder from the PMS (Property Management System) and update remarksonce the task is completed • Able to use your wits andtechnical abilities to solve problems and make repairs effectivelyand efficiently • Able to maintain a daily logbook of workdone during the shift • Able to delegate duties to theEngineering supervisors, Ken fix-it and other technicians• Able to take charge of a shift of eight to nine workinghours (Morning, Afternoon, Night or Break Shift) • Able tocomplete the daily checklist before handing over the shift• Able to look after the smooth functioning of allmachinery and equipment • Able give proper handover to thenext shift and take regular briefing of the shift staff •Enter all guest complaints and back of the house complaints as soonas they are received at the engineering control desk log book• Execute the preventative maintenance schedule and ensureall equipment and designated areas are maintained to the requiredstandard • Inform Assistant Manager Engineer of recurringcomplaints so that general shift staff can rectify the problems onthe permanent basis • Responsible to take decisions whenthe Engineering Chief and Assistant Manager are not available• Maintain all tools, equipment, and working areas in goodcondition • Maintain the engineering working area andcontrol desk in a good condition always • Maintainmaintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed• Train and instruct other members of the staff throughsharing of knowledge and skills • Attend all firefightingclasses and to obtain a thorough knowledge of firefightingappliances • Perform any other job assigned by themanagement as and when required Qualifications • A passionfor delivering great customer service • Excellent guestrelations and communication skills required • Ability toread and understand test equipment, measuring devices, and safetymanuals • Ability to work without close supervision andwithin established time frames • Demonstrable electricalexperience and current working knowledge of general maintenance andengineering work • Experience in general trades such aslight plumbing, minor electrical, painting & drywall,general repairs required • A high school diploma withtechnical or vocational schooling • Basic computer skillsand MS product suites, previous experience in working withmaintenance software, PMS - Property management systems etc. addedadvantage • 2 - 5 Years as a Maintenance Mechanic or KenFix-it in a hospitality environment • Additional workingexperience in preventive maintenance, minor electrical, plumbing,HVAC etc. Additional Information Our commitment to Diversity& Inclusion: We are an inclusive company and our ambitionis to attract, recruit and promote diverse talent.
