Ward Clerk - EleganciaHealth Care Job Summary Under the general supervision of a licensedcaregiver, the Ward Clerk will coordinate the administrativefunctions of the nursing department. The Ward Clerk works incollaboration with other departments to maintain adequate suppliesand track the status of equipment repairs. The Ward Clerkdemonstrates effective communication and customer service skillswith patients, family members, physicians, and other medical centerdepartments in compliance with the medical center'scustomer service goals. The Ward Clerk performs variousadministrative activities or tasks specific to the unit needs,acting as a receptionist for the department, answering and relayingpatient calls, and accepting and relaying other communications. JobResponsibilities 1 Greets all visitors to the unit and assumesresponsibility for responding to customer requests. Performs allclerical/administrative functions necessary to process and maintainmedical records Responsible for assisting with inventory control ofoperational and unit specific forms, medical record forms, andoffice supplies. Maintains logs of equipment and repairs. Liaisonswith other departments to ensure necessary repairs are scheduledand accomplished in a timely manner. Enters patient informationinto patient call light system and responds to patient calls androutes requests to staff. Performs ADT tasks. Reduces the risk ofpatient harm resulting from falls – communicates patientrequests in a timely manner to registered nurse. JobResponsibilities 2 Provides orientation to all float and new staffas appropriate. Updates the assignment board accordingly. Ensurethat the nurses’, physicians’ and clinicalpartners’ names and phone numbers are properly updated.Always maintains a clean and organized workstation. Alwaysmaintains patient confidentiality. Manages deliveries to thepneumatic tube station. Ensures that all patient calls and calllights are answered in a timely manner, triage calls or patientrequests to the appropriate person, or escalate to the chargenurse, if necessary.
