School Counsellor

The opportunity: We areseeking a qualified School Counsellor for August 2024. Thesuccessful candidate will provide a professional and confidentialcounselling service to our students, promote their wellbeing andhelp build their resilience. This is an excellent opportunity tojoin a friendly and welcoming community in one of the leadinginternational schools in the region. Skills and qualities:• A bachelor’s degree in psychology (or similarfield) and a master’s degree in Counselling orPsychotherapy, preferably related to children • Minimum 2years’ post qualification experience • BACP/UKCP registration (or similar) • Further therapeutictraining or qualifications in working with children and youngpeople preferred. Qualifications in CBT, play therapy, dramatherapy, art therapy would be an advantage. • Anunderstanding of the developmental, emotional, social, andeducational needs of children and young people. • Highlevel of cultural awareness and sensitivity • Strongcommunication and interpersonal skills • Ability tocollect and analyse data and produce high-quality reports• Ability to work professionally and independently as wellas collaboratively Key Responsibilities: • Commitment tosafeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people• Promote the school’s vision, mission andvalues • Manage a caseload of students who requireconfidential one to one counselling or therapeutic group work for arange of social and emotional needs • Provide support,guidance and advice to parents and carers • Maintainappropriate and confidential records • Workcollaboratively with the Designated Safeguarding Leads across theschool to evaluate the needs of identified students and determineappropriate levels of support • Work collaboratively withthe pastoral team to respond in a timely and effective manner tostudent needs across the school • Continually review andevaluate the counselling service • Actively engage inprofessional development opportunities to support therole
