Long DescriptionParticipate in the conceptualization, design, development,coordination, monitoring and implementation of UNESCO'sNatural Sciences programme, projects, and activities in countriesunder the auspices of the Regional Office in Doha with a specialfocus on Hydrology, Climate Change, and Disaster Risk Reduction.Contribute to preparing and evaluating reports on theimplementation of programmes and projects and provide inputs to thework plans and budget documents (C/5). Implement and coordinateevents and other initiatives related to UNESCO's programmesand activities. Liaise with colleagues within the Natural SciencesSector, other sectors and stakeholders to discuss the developmentand archive information on natural sciences to initiate baselineimpact measurement. Contribute for resource mobilisation, identifyand develop internal and external collaborative project proposalsin natural sciences based on needs, and define and revise projectrequirements and specifications. Participate in joint programmingand delivery as One exercise within the framework of the UnitedNations (UN) Reform such as Common Country Analysis (CCAs), UNDCFs,Regional Opportunity and Issues-Based Coalitions (OIBCs). Advisethe Director of the Regional Office on all matters related tonatural sciences, and make appropriate recommendations for theattention of governmental authorities and stakeholders. Interactwith Programme Specialists of UNESCO's regional offices andHeadquarters, research institutions, donors, Non-GovernmentalOrganizations (NGOs), the seven National Commissions and fiveUnited Nations Country Teams (UNCTs) in the region regularly forprogramme, project and joint administrative matters. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education Advanced UniversityDegree (master's or equivalent) in one of the fields ofNatural Sciences (Environment, Ecology, Hydrology, Earth Sciencesand Basic Sciences) and/or Engineering. Work Experience A minimumof 4 (four) years of relevant professional experience in the fieldof natural sciences of which preferably 2 (two) years acquired atthe international level. Demonstrated ability to develop, implementand coordinate programmes/projects in natural sciences, orinterdisciplinary fields. Experience in establishing andmaintaining professional scientific networks. Skills andCompetencies Good analytical, organizational and project managementskills. Knowledge of Results-Based Management tools. Ability tocollect, consolidate, synthesize, and analyze information fromvarious sources. Capacity to build and maintain effective workingrelations in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment andwith relevant institutions, and intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations.
