The role will involve engaging in regularfeedback meetings with Senior Instructors, in support of continuousimprovement of the instructor’s class and the departmentas a whole. Taking ownership of their class and leading by example,the instructor must demonstrate professionalism and flexibility.The instructor must also demonstrate a commitment to continuousprofessional development and continuous improvement initiativeswithin the QTI.

Key aspectsof the English Instructor role are:

  • Effective delivery of the curriculumin accordance with relevant policies and procedures within theQTI.
  • Ensuring military students make goodprogress as measured against the CEFR.
  • Supportthe development of the department and instructors by identifyingopportunities for continuousimprovement.
  • Support a culture of reflectionand improvement, and show a passion for teaching with a can-do,solution focused attitude.
  • Work collaborativelywith all English instructors, and instructors of other subjects, toprovide students with the best chance of success in the Foundationprogramme.
  • Regularly report student progress,attendance and behaviour to Foundationmanagement.
  • Engage with the QTI’sperformance management policy effectively to ensure objectives aremet.

1:Operate within all mandated SHEguidelines.

· Demonstrate excellentSHE behaviour and undertake all mandatorytrainings.

2: Undertake allcore job duties.

· Teach English tomilitary students in preparation for Engineeringprogrammes.

· Apply and ensureconsistent rules of classroombehaviour.

· Carry out administrativetasks within the QTI, ensuring all student data iscaptured.

· Provide cover teaching inthe event of absences.

· Providesupport to all students throughout the learning journey of theQTI.

3: Plan and teacheffectively.

· Deliver lessons using avariety of differentiated instructional techniques that areappropriate for the context and meet the needs ofstudents.

· Design and developsupplementary course materials to setstandards.

· Provide ongoing oral andwritten feedback to students.

·Prepare lesson plans, including full plans for observedlessons.

4: Maintain optimaloperational performance in all areas of jobduties.

· Support course development,implementation and review.

· Operateusing proper lines of communication.

·Engage with new technology.

5: Record, share and analyse all necessary datawithin required timeframes.

· Assessstudents and provide both formative and summativeevaluations.

· Ensure all data isrecorded accurately and on time.

6: Maintain a positive relationship with themilitary.

· Interact positively withmilitary personnel.

· Respect rules ofthe military environment.
