Successful applicants must have: • A certified teaching qualification, such as B.Ed, PGCE, or equivalent (the PGCE must be accompanied by a subject relevant Bachelor’s Degree). • Preferably a National Award for SEN Coordination or equivalent • Determine the strategic development of special educational needs (SEN) policy and provision in the school. • Be responsible for day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and coordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEN or a disability. • Provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents, and other agencies. • Establish high expectations of team members and students and setting challenging targets for each of them to achieve; • Ensure that systems and procedures are in place to enable the effective and consistent progression of all students within the cohort; • Promote approaches to learning and teaching that engage and motivate students and demand their active participation; • Strengthen learning and teaching through a programme of professional development and practical support.
