A world leading manufacturer of care products require a Manufacturing / Process Engineer for their busy Taunton operation.
Leads, coordinates, organises and improves all operational functions within the Bulk Concentrate Manufacturing Department to meet production requirements whilst ensuring compliance to all relevant standards and procedures. Assures Safety / Quality /Cost / Delivery improvement annually through Development of Team and resources.

1.
Recruit employees in accordance with company recruitment policy and ensure staff are developed to meet the requirements of the business.
Drive company and departmental objectives, visions, values and KPI s and ensure staff are motivated to achieve them.
Ensure regular performance reviews are conducted; with any training requirements identified and acted upon. Including skills and competency matrix, training plan and setting objectives.
Ensure accurate and appropriate maintenance of Employee records including Training, Time and Attendance, absence and investigations
Understand and ensure all company HR policies are adhered to including but not limited to attendance policy, disciplinary and grievance.
Understand and ensure operational compliance with all procedures manual.
Brief employees in accordance with the communication policy, including monthly/weekly and shift communications.
Act as a role model for team at all times.
Review team objectives regularly and ensure structure of team fits with the requirements of the business.
Promote transparency in order to resolve problems and co-ordinate activities with other departments.

Liaise with suppliers of equipment, services and materials
Read appropriate literature
Recommend and implement changes to processes and procedures that will improve safety, quality and efficiency
Continually challenge status quo ensuring function is innovative and up to date
Work closely with all internal departments to ensure that the best possible solutions are implemented to satisfy both Customer and Industrial requirements

Co-ordination of day-to-day manufacturing maintenance. Ensuring the best possible efficient and cost effective decisions are always made
Establish the manufacturing plan and batch documents to ensure a reliable supply of bulks to the filling lines
Housekeeping and calibration programmes
Inventory management (bulks, Raw materials, consumables, equipment .)
Ensure all operations are conducted within site EMS guidelines
Support Senior Leadership Team as and when required
Design, develop and implement new planning tools and systems

Daily problem resolution
Effective RCCA implementation to improve Quality and productivity
Actively participate and lead Continuous Improvement activities, follow through to ensure complete implementation of improvements.

Monitor and control product wastage within budget
Monitor and control overtime to within budgeted levels
Monitor and control revenue spending within budget
Build and recommend annual budgets
Propose Capital Expenditure projects which will make the business more efficient.
Arrange waste disposal at best cost

Ensure the Department operates within the guidelines laid down under Health & Safety and COSHH regulations
Ensure that prescribed monitoring systems are rigorously applied and records maintained
Ensure Risk Assessments are performed and documented
Encourage pro active approach to safety within the team.

Work with the Quality team to ensure Corrective Actions are completed in a timely manner
Ensure GMP standards within the business are met to maintain ISO22716 standard compliance at all times.
Ensure all audits are supported positively.
Work collaboratively with peers to ensure compliance with Quality requirements.

COMPETENCIES
Necessary role related knowledge, skills and experience at selection
Significant experience in a similar role at a senior level in an FMCG environment
Educated to degree level within relevant environment or equivalent experience
Ability to control team of relatively independent individuals
High level of practical common sense and the ability to think around problems of both a chemical and engineering nature
Ability to prioritise work loads
Ability to form working relationships with other managers controlling similar practically based functions
Ability to communicate effectively with senior managers and to prepare and present reports on process and system
Computer literate
Problem solving skills
Effective user of MS Office and MRP systems
