Role Summary:


The Manager Operations Audit will be primarily responsible for conducting the planning fieldwork and reporting stages of individual Operations audit assignments on daytoday basis in line with the approved annual audit plan pertaining to the incumbents area of responsibility including timely completion thereof and adherence to internal auditing best practices including but not limited to the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (SPPIA) recommendations and guidelines of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision and other applicable standards.

The above role will also extend to the secondary responsibilities assigned to the Operations & Retail Audit team in terms of specific activities/functions/departments to be audited in addition to the primary responsibility with respect to the Operations audit activities/functions.

Role Description:

  • Supervise/conduct individual assignments as per the approved annual audit plan (comprising Operations audits and the other functions/activities assigned as mentioned above) and ensure completion of the same within the budgeted/allocated time.

  • Identify and evaluate the risks involved on the individual audit assignments by using the risk assessment methodology/parameters developed by Group Internal Audit Division (GIAD).

  • Adhere to the procedures/ guidelines contained in the internal audit Policy & Procedures manual in the conduct of their daytoday responsibilities/tasks encompassing audit planning fieldwork communication of draft audit findings to auditee management and obtaining their responses on the findings raised.

  • Prepare the individual audit programs for the respective audit/review assignments for adequacy.

  • Review the adequacy of the risk management processes in place to determine the quality of the risk exposures relevant to the Operations in banking.

  • Prepare the communications for and participate in the audit opening interim and closing meetings with relevant auditee and executive management. Also provide additional explanations/clarifications required by management on individual audit findings during the interim/closing meetings.

  • Prepare the draft audit report for submission to the audit/assignment incharge for his review.

  • Participate in conducting special audits/investigation assignments for review of problem areas or for certain specific reasons as and when directed by the superiors.

  • Conduct the postaudit followup of audit reports and to ensure compliance with recommendations as per instructions from audit management if required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in finance accounting economics banking or other related subjects.

  • Professional qualifications such as CIA/CBA/CMA/CPA/CA/ACCA.

  • Minimum of 6 years experience in a major bank or leading audit firm with specific operations and retail banking knowledge of 3 years in a supervisory role.

  • Good oral and written communication skills in English and Arabic (preferred).

  • Knowledge of legal and documentation requirements pertaining to the incumbents area of responsibility.

  • Knowledge of Basel Committee on Banking Supervision best practices pertaining to the area of responsibility.

  • Good understanding of risk concepts retail banking operations/systems and pertinent regulatory requirements.

  • Ability to motivate lead and direct subordinates.

  • Good analytical and interpersonal skills.

  • Selfmotivated with an eye for detail.

  • Ability to lead more than one assignment at the same time.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and Computer Assisted Audit Techniques such as ACL.

  • Working knowledge of applicable International Accounting Standards (IAS) and related pronouncements
