Roles and responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Planner Specialist for our Public Transport (PT) operation with an in-house maintenance service center. The ideal candidate will optimize maintenance processes, utilize SAP systems, and implement strategic planning to ensure efficient operations of public transport vehicles and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance strategies for public transport fleet and facilities
  • Utilize SAP plant and dealership modules for maintenance planning and execution
  • Create and maintain asset hierarchies for streamlined maintenance management of vehicles and infrastructure
  • Manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) for both preventive and corrective maintenance of transport assets
  • Develop and optimize maintenance schedules to minimize service disruptions
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with transport operators and technicians
  • Prioritize tasks based on vehicle/equipment criticality and operational needs
  • Analyze maintenance data to improve efficiency and reduce vehicle downtime
  • Ensure compliance with transport safety regulations and industry standards
  • Manage inventory of spare parts and supplies for the public transport fleet
  • Implement and maintain a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
  • Provide regular reports on fleet maintenance activities and key performance indicators

  • Planning and Scheduling

  • Maintenance Scheduling: Develop and maintain a comprehensive maintenance schedule that prioritizes tasks based on urgency and resource availability.
  • Work Order Management: Create, track, and manage work orders for maintenance activities, ensuring timely completion.

  • Resource Management

  • Resource Allocation: Identify and allocate necessary resources, including labor, tools, and materials, for maintenance tasks.
  • Vendor Coordination: Liaise with external vendors and service providers to procure services and materials as needed.

  • Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Performance Metrics: Monitor and analyze maintenance performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on maintenance activities, costs, and overall equipment effectiveness to management.

  • Communication and Collaboration

  • Cross-Department Coordination: Work closely with other departments (e.g., operations, safety) to ensure alignment on maintenance activities and priorities.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure clear communication of tasks and expectations.

Desired candidate profile
  • Proven experience in maintenance planning, preferably in public transport or related industries
  • Expertise in SAP plant maintenance and dealership modules
  • Strong understanding of maintenance strategies for transport fleets and infrastructure
  • Proficiency in creating and managing asset hierarchies for complex transport systems
  • Experience in developing and maintaining BOMs for preventive and corrective maintenance of vehicles
  • Knowledge of public transport vehicles, equipment, and facility maintenance needs
  • Ability to optimize maintenance processes using SAP functionalities
  • Strong analytical skills for data-driven decision making in fleet management
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities
  • Familiarity with transport safety regulations and maintenance best practices

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with relevant regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments and safety audits related to maintenance tasks to promote a safe working environment.

  • Additional Responsibilities

  • Inventory Management: Manage and oversee the inventory of maintenance supplies and parts, ensuring adequate stock levels.
  • Budget Management: Assist in the preparation and management of the maintenance budget, tracking expenses and cost-saving opportunities.
