As a Quantity Surveyor in our team, you will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of construction projects, ensuring that the project stays within budget and that all costs are accounted for accurately. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure the effective delivery of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

- Preparation of Bill of Quantities (BOQ):

- Accurately prepare BOQs for all building construction projects, including residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
- Ensure that all items are included in the BOQ, with detailed descriptions, measurements, and quantities, in accordance with Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS) and other relevant standards.
- Prepare unit rates for various construction activities based on local market rates and historical data.
- Cost Estimation and Budgeting:

- Prepare cost estimates and budgets for building construction projects, considering material costs, labor, overheads, and equipment.
- Ensure that the estimated costs align with the overall project budget, and report any discrepancies or potential issues.
- Tendering and Procurement:

- Assist in the preparation of tender documents, including BOQs, and ensure that all cost-related aspects are covered.
- Review and analyze contractor bids, ensuring that they are accurate and complete.
- Participate in the tender evaluation process and provide recommendations based on cost analysis.
- Cost Control and Monitoring:

- Monitor project costs throughout the construction phase, ensuring that the work is completed within the allocated budget.
- Prepare cost reports and provide regular updates to the project management team regarding any potential cost overruns or savings.
- Work with project managers to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
- Contract Administration:

- Assist in the preparation and administration of construction contracts, including reviewing contractual terms and ensuring compliance with agreed-upon pricing and conditions.
- Review subcontractor agreements, change orders, and variations to ensure that all costs are correctly captured.
- Variation and Change Management:

- Assess and manage variations to the original contract scope, preparing cost impact assessments for client approval.
- Ensure that any changes are documented and tracked accurately.
- Site Visits and Measurement:

- Conduct site visits to measure and verify quantities of completed work, ensuring that they align with the BOQ and the actual work completed.
- Perform site measurements and update the BOQ as required.
- Reporting and Documentation:

- Prepare and maintain detailed project cost reports, including monthly financial summaries, forecasting, and progress reports.
- Ensure that all documentation is accurately stored, tracked, and updated in accordance with company standards.
- Collaboration with Project Teams:

- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and design teams to ensure that all cost-related aspects of the project are properly addressed.
- Provide cost advice and recommendations during the design and construction phases to ensure cost-effective solutions.
- Compliance with Local Regulations:

- Ensure that all cost estimates, BOQs, and financial documentation comply with local regulations and Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS).
- Keep up to date with changes in local construction laws, building codes, and industry standards.
Requirements:
Education and Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Certification: Membership in a recognized professional body such as RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors), CIOB (Chartered Institute of Building), or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Additional Certifications: Any additional certifications related to construction, cost management, or project management (e.g., NEC3, FIDIC, PQS - Professional Quantity Surveyor) are a plus.

**Experience**:

- Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in building construction.
- Proven experience in preparing BOQs for large-scale residential, commercial, and industrial projects in Qatar or the Gulf region.
- Strong background in cost estimation, budgeting, and financial management for construction projects.
- Experience in tendering, procurement, and contract administration.
- Experience with local construction standards and regulations in Qatar, including Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS), Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) regulations, and other relevant local codes.
- Hands-on experience with site measurements, variation management, and cost reporting.

Skills and Competencies:

- Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage and assess large quantities of cost data.
- Proficient in using Quantity Surveying software (e.g., WinQS, CostX, Bluebeam, or other industry-standard tools).
