We are seeking a highly motivated Operations & Strategy Manager with experience in the nursery and entertainment sectors. Your are responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, operational efficiency, cash management, health and safety compliance, and staff training at Spark Sense and Play. This role involves managing the Front Desk Team, Playground, Creative Workshops, and Café, ensuring that every aspect of the business aligns with the company’s vision and operational goals.
The Operations and Strategy Manager will also work closely with the General Manager to ensure seamless operations and continuous improvement, including identifying gaps and suggesting improvements. They will regularly review sources of revenue, collaboration effectiveness, and recommend whether to continue, enhance, or replace existing workshops or strategies, such as integrating school field trips.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Strategic Planning and Improvement**:
Develop and implement strategies to enhance the overall operations of Spark Sense and Play, ensuring alignment with the company’s mission and goals.
Identify gaps and opportunities for improvement across all departments, leading initiatives to drive operational excellence.
Regularly review the effectiveness of current sources of revenue and collaborations, suggesting improvements or alternative strategies, including the potential replacement of less effective initiatives with new ones like school field trips.
Analyze performance metrics and prepare reports for the Management, providing insights and recommendations for strategic growth.
**Operations Management**:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Front Desk, Playground, Creative Workshops, and Café to ensure smooth and efficient service delivery.
- Coordinate with department supervisors to optimize staff scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow processes.
- Ensure that all operational activities comply with the highest standards of customer service and safety.
**Cash Handling and Financial Oversight**:
- Implement and monitor cash handling procedures to ensure accuracy, security, and compliance with company policies.
- Work closely with the accountant to track daily sales, manage budgets, and report compliance.
- Conduct regular audits of cash registers, safe deposits, and financial records with the accountant to maintain transparency and accountability.
**Health and Safety Compliance**:
- Ensure that all areas of Spark Sense and Play adhere to local health, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Develop and enforce health and safety protocols, including emergency procedures and risk assessments.
- Train staff on safety protocols, conduct regular safety audits, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
**Team Leadership and Training**:
- Lead, mentor, and manage the Front Desk Team, Playground staff, Creative Workshop instructors, and Café personnel.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for all staff, ensuring they understand and adhere to company standards and safety protocols.
- Continuously follow up with team members to ensure compliance and provide ongoing support and guidance.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and customer-focused service.
- Conduct regular staff meetings, performance evaluations, and training sessions to ensure professional development and adherence to company standards.
**Customer Experience**:
- Ensure a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment for children and families.
- Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints promptly and effectively in the absence of the General Manager.
- Develop and implement initiatives to enhance the overall customer experience, including special events and promotions.
**Compliance and Reporting**:
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Prepare and present regular reports on operational performance, health and safety compliance, and financial results to the Chief Executive Officer.
- Collaborate with external auditors, inspectors, and regulatory bodies as needed.
**Collaboration**:
- Work closely with the General Manager to align operational goals, strategy implementation, and staff management.
- Coordinate efforts to ensure a cohesive approach to managing the center, addressing challenges, and achieving business objectives.
**Qualifications & Skills**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in operations and strategy management, preferably within the nursery and entertainment industries.
- Strong understanding of child development principles and entertainment management.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Experience with cash handling, financial management, and health and safety compliance.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
