requirementsHBKU has recently established the first center specializing in quantum computing research. This center, to be called Qatar Center for Quantum Computing (QC2), will facilitate a unique working environment for both theoretical and experimental research in quantum computing, communication and sensing. QC2 will also house a state-of-the-art Quantum Photonics Lab (QPL). Students and researchers within the center will use this lab to conduct practical experiments in the areas of quantum cryptography (QKD), quantum networks and quantum sensing. QC2 is seeking to recruit a qualified and experienced full-time lab manager for QPL.

**Qualifications**
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related fields
- 2+ years of relevant lab management experience, or experience conducting & setting up quantum photonics related experiments
- Experience in the use and maintenance of standard quantum photonics equipment, especially those used for quantum cryptography/networks, such as: single photon source/detector, time tagging electronics, waveform generators, homodyne/heterodyne detectors, entanglement assisted sources etc.

**Responsibilities**
- Manage daily lab operations, such as, inventory (equipment, tools, software and other licenses), track consumables, set up bench and tables for experiments etc.
- Identify equipment requirement and manage procurement process, including: tender documentation preparation, evaluation, follow ups and shipping tracking.
- Manage equipment installation, commissioning, and acceptance.
- Manage access to the lab and perform any required security checks before access is granted
- Perform regular equipment calibration and minor lab build/repairs
- Manage equipment (pro-active) maintenance, and service contracts
- Undertake risk assessment and hazard analysis 
- Optimize lab space and capacity to improve equipment performance and people productivity
- Closely monitor lab environment to ensure ideal conditions for conducting experiments
