As an Expert in BSL2 Histopathology Lab/Mortuary, you will play a critical role in conducting histopathological examinations and providing expert support in a Biosafety Level 2 (BSL2) environment. Your responsibilities will involve managing the workflow of the histopathology laboratory or mortuary, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, and conducting accurate analyses to support clinical diagnosis, research, and forensic investigations.

Key Responsibilities:

- Perform histological processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, and microscopic analysis of tissue specimens obtained from clinical samples, research studies, or forensic cases.
- Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of histopathological findings. Monitor equipment performance, reagent quality, and laboratory procedures to meet regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.
- Enforce biosafety protocols and guidelines to ensure the safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials, including infectious tissue specimens and chemical reagents, in accordance with BSL2 regulations.Coordinate the workflow of the histopathology laboratory or mortuary to prioritize and process specimens efficiently. Assign tasks to laboratory technicians and support staff to meet turnaround times and deadlines.
- Maintain detailed records of specimen processing, staining protocols, microscopic observations, and diagnostic interpretations. Prepare accurate reports and documentation to communicate findings to healthcare professionals, researchers, or legal authorities.
- Provide training and mentorship to laboratory personnel on histopathological techniques, safety procedures, and quality assurance practices. Stay updated on advances in histopathology and share knowledge with colleagues to enhance expertise and performance.
- Oversee the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment, including microtomes, tissue processors, stainers, and microscopes, to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with pathologists, clinicians, researchers, and forensic investigators to interpret histopathological findings, correlate clinical data, and contribute to patient care, research projects, or legal proceedings.
- Participate in research initiatives, validation studies, or method development projects to improve histopathological techniques, diagnostic accuracy, and laboratory efficiency.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Histotechnology, Pathology, Biology, or a related field. Certification as a Histotechnologist (HT) or Histotechnician (HTL) preferred.
- 10 years experience of working in a histopathology laboratory or mortuary, with proficiency in histological techniques, tissue processing, and microscopic analysis.
- proven knowledge and outstanding experience regarding:

- Hospital Mortuaries in the Middle East
- BSL2 Histopathology Labs/BSL3 Post-mortem
- Familiarity with BSL2 safety regulations, biohazard handling procedures, and infection control practices.
