**Department**
MESAIEED PORT

**Primary purpose of job**:

- Responsible for the monitoring and control of the movement of vessels within port and port limits, thus ensuring safe
navigation and protection of the port. Collect and disseminate data for the Traffic Management and Information service

(VTMIS) and ensures that all the electronic equipment within Port Control is operational and at 100% availability to ensure a

smooth and efficient operation of the Port Control Tower.

**Experience & Skills**:

- Min 3 years sea going (international merchant vessel or navy)- Min 2 years as VTS Operator
- Ability to work effectively in a team, including the ability to respond to the needs of team members and provide them with

assistance when required
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and to work with third parties and retain professional demeanor in confrontational

situations.
- Ability to carry out duties effectively and efficiently and according to defined objectives under mínimal supervision.
- Ability to monitor the operational and functional integrity of communications equipment, computer and navigational aids.
- Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing in English, in order to be able to report adequately to superiors

and to form good relations, negotiates and resolves conflicts with stakeholders.
- Knowledge of maritime regulations and terminology.

**Education**:

- Deck Officer Certificate of Competency (no limitations) STCW II/1 or higher- Marine Radio Officer
- Radio certification (GoC)
- Radar / ARPA course certificate
- IALA VTS Operator Certificate
