**Teaching Assistant cum Bus Assistant**

**Purpose of the Position**

To offer support to the learning, pastoral and co-curricular needs of individual students through the school’s pastoral policy and core values.

**Main Tasks and Responsibilities**

In addition to the general duties of a member of staff at Richmond International School, the post holder is expected to:

- Classroom Duty_
- Getting the classroom ready for lessons and clearing away afterwards so as to maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Assisting Teachers in preparing the lesson materials and school equipment.
- Recording and reporting a pupil's progress to the Teacher.
- Helping pupils stay focused during class hours.
- Supervising group activities, sports events and school outings.
- Helping Teachers manage student behaviour.
- Looking after children who are unwell or upset.
- Providing a healthy and safe learning environment for children.
- Bus Duty_
- Assisting with the school bus service.
- Know the proper use of securing devices for safety restraints and seat belts.
- Manage the proper loading and unloading of students.
- Maintain student discipline.
- Supervise and assist students in transit.
- Report any concerns regarding students to the school administration staff
- Know the school bus evacuation procedures and be physically capable to evacuate students in an emergency.
- Learn the bus route and provide route information that includes driver directions for the best way to reach a location as appropriate.
- Communicate with parents to advise on arrival times for loading and unloading of students.
- Collect students from classrooms and supervise them to the correct busses.
- Communicating students who are absent on the school bus to the administration staff.
- Occupy a seat that provides the best opportunity for student supervision while the bus is in motion.

**Person Specification**

**Knowledge and Experience**

**Essential**
- A high school diploma, or equivalent.
- Involvement in extra-curricular activities (professional, amateur or voluntary).
- Proficiency with MS Office.
- Minimum 1 year experience as a teaching assistant.
- Fluency in English speaking, reading and writing.
- **Must be female to comply with government regulations regarding bus assistants.**:

- **must be under 50 years old to comply with government licensing requirements.**

**Desirable**
- Batchelors qualification.
- Evidence of continuous training.
- Awareness of Safeguarding requirements and good practice.
- High level of IT literacy including use of online learning platforms.

- Be capable of assisting the delivering inspirational and informative lessons.
- Be able to demonstrate a positive and authoritative rapport with Early Years’ pupils.
- Excellent and effective classroom management skills.

- Be a dedicated team-player, who strives for excellence and leads by example.
