**Job Title**
Head / Manager Trade Finance Operations
**Role Objective**
The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing/managing the Bank's trade finance operations transactions encompassing Export/Import Letters of Credit and Letter of Guarantee (LG), implement standards to ensure timely and seamless processing of transactions and conduct of activities pertaining to foreign trade operations.
**Detailed roles & responsibilities**
- Contribute towards formulation of strategy, annual business plans, policies and procedures of the department, to support divisional and organizational business strategy.
- Ensure that the trade finance operations activities within the Bank are operating effectively and efficiently toward achieving high operating standards.
- Maintain highest standards of professional conduct, ethics and integrity in the provision of services in the department.
- Ensure that the department’s business plans are within agreed budgets and timescales. Provide timely, accurate and complete progress reports to the Division Head, Operations on the financial and operational progress of the department.
- Ensure the provision of adequate and efficient Export/Import LCs and LGs transaction processing services to internal customers and thereby help them serve external customers in a more efficient manner, resulting in increased external customer satisfaction levels.
- Oversee the existence of adequate and robust processes and controls (automated/ manual) to ensure compliance with applicable anti-money laundering (AML) rules/ regulations relating to foreign trade transactions and with the International Chamber of Commerce rules for processing of import/ export documentary credits, letters of guarantee.
- Provide inputs to the Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with internal departments/ units to achieve improvements in turn around time (TAT) with respect to transactions processed/ services performed by employees within Import & Export LCs and LGs units.
- Ensure existence of adequate controls over processing of trade finance transactions which enable processing of transactions inline with the accorded approvals by the concerned business functions and ensuring compliance with the Bank's internal policies and UCP rules/guidelines.
- Lead the daily activities of employees and review exception reports and take the required measures/ actions to avoid any incidence of loss on the Bank's risks for the Bank.
- Review all Trade Finance transactions to ensure the underlying transactions and the L/C terms have been properly understood, relevant documentary requirements have been fulfilled and that no onerous clauses exist in the documentation in order to protect the Bank's interests.
- Ensure Trade Finance operations employees are complying with all related policies/ procedures, laws and regulations.
- Monitor all facility utilization with respect to Trade Finance transactions.
- Manage and oversee the daily and monthly balancing of LCs and LGs records to reflect the actual liabilities of the Bank.
- Prepare and submit reports to Division Head, Operations with respect to activities performed by the Trade Finance Operations employees.
- Oversee administration of Letter of Credit facilities with banking institutions.
- Ensure adequate segregations of duties exist among staff working in the Trade Finance Operations Department.
- Review of daily activity report.
- Ensure high standards of confidentiality to safeguard commercially sensitive information.
- Provide timely and accurate information to the external and internal auditors and the Compliance function as and when required.
