Key Accountabilities:
Role Purpose

Conducts research on individual objects in the collection’s care to document findings including possible additional history and/or ownership of the objects.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Conducts scholarly research, including verification of existing provenance along with research to document possible additional history and/or ownership of collection objects.
- Utilizes both local and international resources in conducting research, such as local and international library archives, online collection resources, academic journals, and international policing agencies.
- Follows and implements standards of General Collection’s Policy and Research & Library Procedures.
- Organizes research findings for effective and clear communication.
- Articulates and shares findings clearly and precisely with GC Research Team and Section Head
- Verifies and records existing copyrights or intellectual property rights for objects in the collection.
- Meets deadlines and timeframes imposed for time sensitive delivery of projects.
- Works independently to explore and understand the scope and diversity of objects in the General Collection.
- Maintains and updates accurate collection records in computerized collections management system.
- Assists in research queries from both internal QM colleagues and external institutions or individuals.
- Writes narrative text and labels for public display in exhibitions and/or for online content
- Participates in training workshops to develop collection knowledge, curatorial approaches, and research skills.
- Works cooperatively in a team environment.
- Participates as an effective and valuable team member, including attending weekly GC team meetings.
- Implements basic collections management procedures, including museum registration methods and basic object care and handling.
- Performs similar or related work as required.

- Creative critical mind and informed openness about how museum collections can be most meaningful when they prompt questions that open perspectives.
- Must possess strong research skills.
- Must possess strong written and verbal skills.
- Advanced writing skills with precise attention to details.
- Must be able to communicate and collaborate well with others in the realization of complex projects.
- Must be well organized and detail oriented with excellent planning and implementation skills.
- Must be able to work independently and be able to anticipate needs on projects.
- Must be able to track various tasks and able to meet multiple deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and self-motivated to work on one’s own at the same time as follow direction.
- Strong computer and software skills essential, preferably within PC environment (Office 365).
- Prior curatorial or museum experience is desirable.
- Knowledge of curatorial practices from around the world a plus.

Education, Experience, and certification requirements
- BA degree in art history, Museum studies or related field.
- 0-2 years of working experience.
