Responsibilities and duties of the Teaching Assistant (TA) include:
(a) Tutoring
- To hold office hours to assist students with the lecture course material and labs.
- To provide tutorial support for students related to theory and practice components of their program throughout the semester.
- To report to the instructor at least once every two weeks for feedback and discussion; it is also required to attend some lectures.
- To find instructional and practical problems to be solved in class.

(b) Lab Demonstration
- To manage, operate and run a laboratory. This includes but not limited to, assistance in setting up equipment, maintaining laboratory supplies and resources, preparing materials such problem sheets and handouts for laboratory experiments and conducting these throughout the semester.
- To develop new active learning tools to be used in labs such as open-ended design problems/projects to be done during labs.
- To assist with the development of simulated laboratory and innovative classroom learning experience.

(c) Grading
- To evaluate weekly student assignments.
- To fill in the list / grade sheet with the results regularly and in Blackboard
- To give the updated copy of the grades to the instructor at least every two weeks and before the midterm and final exams.
- To regularly communicate observations and feedback to the instructor.

(d) Research
- To be involved in research with a particular faculty through active participation

(e) Services
- To assist the department’s and program’s initiatives.
- To assist with instruction and supervision of students in workshops, exams, competitions, field work, field trips, internship, etc.
- To assist with senior students' graduation projects and research related to the mission and service of the university.
- To compile and update manuals and guidelines related to practical sessions, lab sessions, internship, and field trips, etc. under the supervision of the instructor.
- To develop and conduct course surveys and compile feedback.
- To support the department, college and university through various activities when required.

Qualifications The applicant must have a minimum Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. However, applicants with a Master of Science in a related field to the position will be considered favorably.

The applicant should demonstrate an interest to work in the areas of applied mechanics and control including but not limited to solid mechanics, design of machinery, mechanical design, mechanical vibration, automation and control.

The TA should also demonstrate the following software skills relevant to the field: proficiency in CAD/CAE software, proficiency in MATLAB, and any other analysis and simulation packages commonly used in Mechanical Engineering area.

- Data acquisition systems
- Control systems and automation
- Robotics
