**Urgent Requirement**

**LIFTING ENGINEER**

**Responsibilities**:

- Organization and control of the lifting operation.
- Assessment of the lifting operation to provide such planning, selection of cranes,
- Conduct daily Task Instruction to the lifting team related to Critical Lifting Operations
- Confirm with the Crane operator and maintenance team that the cranes are operations and in good condition.
- Follows up with all the required approvals of the cranes in line with the Client’s procedures
- Confirms that all the rigging tackles have been properly inspected and color coded prior commencing any activity.
- Follows up with all the required TPIs of the lifting gears and the employees.
- Confirms and follows up with the competency level of each member of the lifting team (Rigging supervisor, Riggers, operators, banksman etc)
- Makes sure that a permit to work for lifting operations has been issued prior of commencing any activity on site.
- Follows up with the permit folders and the lifting plans. All the required certificates and approvals of each crane and lifting activity has to be validated and available on site.
- Responsible for the coordination of engineering and design input for a lift requiring a Rigging Study ensuring that specific requirements for the lifting operations are fully engineered and incorporated into the lifting plan.
- Provide the Crane/Rigging Supervisor with relevant lifting data and liaise with him to establish lifting attachment details.
- Ensure that design checks on equipment items include consideration of transportation and lifting.
- Assist in Work Method Statements, Risk Assessment, Job Safety Analysis and calculations.
- Liaise with QA/QC department in case of any damages or failures on the lifting items (cracks in the blocks etc)
- Responsible to read well and understand all the details of the lifting plan and pass all the required information to the lifting team.
- Record and replace any lifting gears which have limited number of uses (lifting hammers)
- Record and report and respect the weather conditions as those are described in the Method Statement, Lifting Study and the Client’s procedures.
- Lifting gear and equipment, instruction and supervision as is necessary for the task to be undertaken safely.
- Ensure that accurate weights, radii, heights etc. are established.
- Ensure that the ground is suitable for taking up the loads to be imposed.
- Ensure that suitable access is provided to the site and any area required for erection and dismantling the crane.
- All hazards such as services (gas, water, electricity etc.) above or below ground are identified and suitable precautions are taken.
- Ensure that there is an effective procedure for reporting defects and incidents and taking any necessary corrective action.
- Ensure that both the rigger and the crane operator are familiar with the method of signaling to be used.
