Operate incinerators and related equipment according to established procedures and schedules.
- Start up, monitor, and shut down incinerators safely.
- Ensure proper feeding of waste materials into the incinerator.
- Monitor combustion conditions, temperatures, and emissions to maintain safe and efficient incineration.
- Perform routine inspections of the incinerator and auxiliary systems (e.g., air scrubbers, filters).
- Identify any operational issues or equipment malfunctions and report them to the supervisor.
- Perform basic maintenance, such as cleaning burners, replacing filters, and lubricating moving parts.
- Ensure compliance with maintenance schedules and recommend repairs or adjustments as needed.
- Ensure the incinerator operates within environmental regulations and permits.
- Monitor emissions and record data to ensure compliance with environmental standards (e.g., particulate matter, hazardous gases).
- Assist with regular emissions testing and reporting.
- Handle hazardous or controlled waste in accordance with environmental regulations and company policies.
- Ensure proper storage, loading, and unloading of waste materials into the incinerator.
- Sort and segregate waste materials according to safety standards and types of waste.
- Manage ash and by-products from the incineration process, ensuring they are safely disposed of or recycled.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Identify potential hazards and take corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Respond to emergency situations, such as equipment malfunctions, fires, or abnormal operating conditions.
- Participate in safety drills and training programs related to incinerator operations.
- Maintain accurate records of operating conditions, waste input, and output.
- Log operational data such as temperatures, feed rates, and emissions levels.
- Prepare reports on incinerator performance, maintenance activities, and incidents for management review.
- Coordinate with other departments, such as maintenance, environmental compliance, and waste management, to ensure smooth operations.
- Communicate any issues or concerns to supervisors or management in a timely manner.
- Provide feedback and suggestions for improving efficiency and safety in the incineration process.
