Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Internal Auditor to join our team at QAFCO (Qatar Fertiliser Company). The successful candidate will be responsible for providing independent and objective assurance on the effectiveness of our governance, risk management, and control processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Audit Teams: Lead audit teams comprising of joint disciplines (i.e., financial, and technical auditors) to conduct audits and reviews of our business processes.
  • Analyze Systems and Processes: Analyze our systems, processes, and controls with respect to compliance with QAFCO policies, instructions, and procedures or, where these are not available, against defined industry best practices and prioritize the risks identified.
  • Define Audit Scope: Clearly define and agree on the risk-based audit scope with key stakeholders.
  • Conduct Audits: Select/develop appropriate audit steps for effective audit coverage and conduct audits according to yearly audit plans.
  • Communicate Results: Present the results, recommendations, and conclusions of audit reviews to management and staff.
  • Implement Recommendations: Secure agreement on audit conclusions and recommendations with relevant clients and management prior to the audit report sign-off.
  • Manage Audit Documentation: Maintain all the work papers in audit management system (TeamMate+) and review them before the final closeout.
  • Follow-up on Recommendations: Upload the audit findings in the online audit follow-up system (TeamMate+) and notify the action owners once the report is signed and issued.
  • Support Special Studies: Execution of special studies, investigations, and assignments.
  • Support Consultancy Assignments: Execution of consultancy assignments conceived through regular interaction with senior management.
  • Support External Parties: Support, liaison, and coordination with external parties such as State Audit Bureau (SAB), Shareholder's Auditor, external auditors etc.
  • Develop Long-term Audit Plan: Development of long-term audit plan (i.e., 3–5-year plans) based on a risk assessment exercise including an analysis of audit results during the previous audit cycle.
  • Prepare Audit Status Reports: Preparation and follow-up of the implementation of outstanding recommendations. In preparing Audit Status reports for the Audit Committee, management, and others as and when required.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in relevant discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum of 15 years' direct & relevant experience, preferably within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, heavy manufacturing industry, internal auditing or regulatory compliance.
  • Professional Certification: Professional Certification of Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)/ Certified Internal Systems Auditor (C.I.S.A.) will be an advantage.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, quantitative & analytical skills, strong presentation skills, communication & report writing skills (English), ability to work in a small team or independently as required, ability to interact with all levels of Management with tact.
