About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Metallic Materials Engineer to join our team at Asterix Communications. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of our pipeline materials.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Materials Definition and Production: Develop and issue documents related to the definition and production of pipeline components, including pipes and fittings.
  2. Technical Analysis and Support: Provide technical analysis and support to our procurement and commercial office during project bid phases.
  3. Specification Review: Review and validate Saipem specifications for pipes and fittings manufacturing to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  4. Vendor Management: Support the procurement department in establishing bidder lists, evaluating and pre-qualifying vendors, bid assessments, and audits.
  5. Documentation Review: Review supplier documentation for compliance with client and international specifications and rules.
  6. Technical Bid Evaluation: Issue technical bid evaluation for linepipes and fittings supply.
  7. Inspection and Testing: Assist in the inspection and testing of pipeline materials, including reviewing inspection and test plans.
  8. Collaboration and Communication: Liaise with welding, NDT, and anti-corrosion colleagues to identify critical requirements for product manufacturing and promote innovative solutions.
  9. Materials Failure Analysis: Perform materials failure analysis and coordinate with technical groups to validate findings.
  10. Materials Selection: Perform materials selection or validate the materials selection performed by others, taking into account internal and external corrosion mechanisms.
  11. Corrosion Prevention: Develop and implement corrosion prevention strategies, including selecting corrosion-resistant materials, chemical treatments, painting and coatings, cathodic protection, and corrosion allowances.
  12. Corrosion Rate Calculation: Perform corrosion rate calculations using recognized models and software for sour and sweet services.
  13. Chemical Inhibition Philosophy: Select and implement chemical inhibition philosophies to prevent corrosion.
  14. Corrosion Engineering Documents: Issue corrosion engineering documents and transfer corrosion strategies to relevant disciplines.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in materials engineering, with a focus on pipeline materials and corrosion prevention. You will also need to have excellent communication and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
