Job Overview

In this role, you will assist the Manager Health Safety and Environment in further developing Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) strategies at Qatar Duty Free. Your primary focus will be on retail safety, ensuring compliance with local regulations and international best practices to maintain the safety of staff, customers, and facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain the safety of all staff, guests, contractors, and other individuals who may work on or visit our premises or be affected by our activities.
  • Implement preventative safety strategies and policies to ensure the safety of staff and guests while avoiding damage to plant, equipment, and facilities.
  • Identify and fulfill health, safety, and environmental requirements for the food and beverage department, developing and implementing food hygiene standards as required.
  • Manage and proactively support both distribution warehouses and Inflight warehouses to ensure strict controls and practices are in place to eliminate issues.
  • Work closely with the QR Group fire safety team to ensure full compliance and support for all projects and processes.
  • Develop awareness and understanding of material handling equipment across QDF and work with subsidiaries to benchmark against their practices.
  • Advise and direct QDF staff to ensure that all fire safety and environmental affairs are in place to prevent business disruption and ensure revenue flow.
  • Assist the management team in implementing Health and Safety systems and procedures to meet specific requirements, such as accident reporting and COSHH control.
  • Manage the collection, storage, and analysis of accident and other health and safety data, producing management reports, identifying trends, and recommending action.
  • Develop and deliver programs tailored to the needs of QDF Departments with a focus on occupational health and safety, enabling staff and guests to respond effectively and safely.
  • Lead and support driver awareness incentives and reduce vehicle accidents across QDF and the group.
  • Provide strategic foresight on cause and effect of accidents and incidents, developing contingencies to counter root causes.
  • Develop, supervise, and undertake audits to ensure QDF compliance with mandated and guideline safety measures.
  • Respond to emergency situations, providing technical supervision and guidance.
  • Conduct regular safety emergency response exercises to ensure competence and readiness of concerned individuals.
  • Provide technical review and guidance, appraising evaluations, and identifying cost-effective protection and safety systems.
  • Analyze and provide technical expertise in the investigation of reportable/loss time occurrences, maintaining adequate records and historical trend analysis documentation.
  • Advise the Management Team on the implications of current and emerging health, safety, and welfare legislation, evaluating options, making recommendations, and generating action plans.
  • Support management to maintain safe systems of work and implement best practice, providing specialist advice, coaching, and practical support as needed.
  • Promote and maintain safety awareness across QDF to maintain the safety of all concerned.
