Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Safety Engineer to join our Loss Prevention organization. As a Safety Engineer, you will provide day-to-day in-field occupational and process safety support to our operations, as well as centralized technical support and consulting function. Your primary role will be to facilitate the implementation of our Safety Management System, conduct field inspections, and identify safety concerns.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Facilitate Safety Management System Implementation: Develop associated safety processes and participate in self-assessments to ensure compliance with company and international codes and standards.
  2. Conduct Field Inspections and Reviews: Evaluate compliance with company and international codes and standards, identify safety concerns, and formulate practical and cost-effective corrective actions.
  3. Identify and Evaluate Safety Concerns: Recommend actions and follow up on critical safety tasks and control methodologies related to operational safety practices such as work at height, isolation/LOTO, permit to work, hydrogen sulfide, confined space entry, and excavations.
  4. Participate in Safety Studies and Activities: Utilize risk assessment and mitigation methodologies, including PHAs, HAZOPs, JSAs, incident investigations, compliance reviews, and insurance surveys.
  5. Respond to Emergency Situations: Provide technical assistance and advice during or after regular working hours.
  6. Support Contractor Safety Management: Participate in worksite contractor safety management activities, including contractor selection and prequalification, monitoring work site compliance, and measuring performance.
  7. Investigate Incidents: Support the reporting, classification, and investigation of all incidents, participate in incident investigations to determine root causes, and make proper recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  8. Deliver Training and Mentorship: Deliver Loss Prevention-specific training to employees, contractors, and outside parties, and mentor other Loss Prevention personnel.
Requirements:
  • This role requires a candidate to relocate to a new location.
  • Hold a BA/BS degree from an Accredited Institution, along with 7 years of experience in areas such as operations and maintenance, plant engineering, construction, turnaround and inspection, safety program development, process safety, and audits/assessments within the oil and gas, petrochemicals, or related industries.
  • Alternatively, possess 15 years of relevant industry experience in the oil and gas, petrochemicals, or related industries, with a strong track record of delivering results in the aforementioned areas, without a degree.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, capable of effectively communicating with peers and management.
  • Ability to produce clear and concise oral and written reports in English.
