Job Title: Head of Electrical Engineering

We are working with a major oil and gas operator to source a Head of Electrical Engineering (Utilities) for a contract role based at Ras Laffan Industrial City. The position is responsible for overseeing electrical engineering activities in the NFS Onshore Project-Utilities, ensuring all technical requirements are met in compliance with project specifications, standardized processes, and technical quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform a cold eye review of electrical deliverables and propose changes as necessary.
  • Review material requisitions and technical bid evaluations proposed by the EPC contractor and provide necessary technical information and approvals.
  • Provide guidance to the EPC contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors to facilitate resolution of electrical technical issues.
  • Steward various phases of electrical engineering during installation, pre-commissioning, site acceptance testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Provide ad hoc field engineering assistance during start-up and early operations phases.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or higher.
  • 15+ years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in a major LNG project.
  • Broad knowledge of engineering execution, including design standards, specifications, codes, safety criteria, onshore LNG facilities, and utility systems design, construction, and operations.
  • Demonstrated broad electrical equipment and systems experience, including HV/MV/LV electrical systems design, transformers, switchgear, power management systems, and electrical system controls.
  • High voltage and large-scale onshore power design requirements.
  • Experience with EPC contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors involved in the oil and gas industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people from various cultural backgrounds.
  • High level of proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Computer literacy involving the regular use of professional office applications and technical applications such as ETAP software.
  • Resilience to work with variable and high-demanding workloads.
  • Strong technical and discipline management skills.
  • Good organizational, planning, and coordination skills.
  • Good communication, influencing, and interface skills.
