Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing project planning and scheduling to identify any construction slippage and optimizing contractors' resources.
  • Reviewing construction method statements, pre-commissioning and commissioning procedures, and endorsing red-marked as-built drawings and construction dossiers.
  • Assisting in contractors' mobilization and demobilization.
  • Ensuring that safety regulations for contractors, project safety plans, and State of Qatar's environmental regulations are understood and followed by the contractors.
  • Controlling and endorsing work permits for project work.
  • Inspecting construction works and materials in accordance with project quality plans and inspection & test plans (ITPs).
  • Coordinating with concerned parties to resolve routine site issues and referring technical queries to senior construction supervisors.
  • Updating daily and weekly construction progress reports for assigned projects and verifying contractors' progress statements for accuracy.
  • Attending weekly progress meetings for assigned projects.
  • Preparing and categorizing punch lists and ensuring that all punch list items are cleared by the contractors.
  • Coordinating pre-commissioning activities and assisting during commissioning of facilities.
  • Initiating Mechanical Completion Certificates (MCC), Handover Certificate (HOC), Acceptance Certificate (AC), and facilitating the issuance of Project Completion & Discharge Certificates.
  • Assisting in the development of Qatari Engineers.Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an internationally recognized University, with extensive construction-related experience.
  • Good skills in construction management, effective communication, conflict resolution, and relevant courses in HSE, QAQC, and construction.
  • At least 12 years' experience in the appropriate discipline involving construction installation pre-commissioning & commissioning of oil and gas, high-rise buildings & towers for HV, MV, and LV Electrical equipment, including experience at a supervisory level.
  • Demonstrate thorough working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) / NFPA 70, IEC, or equivalent standards.
  • Shall have working knowledge of electrical installations, including materials, methods, specifications, and hazardous location identification, as applicable.
  • Experienced in the implementation of construction industry best practices, systems, processes, and standards.
  • Ability to interpret methods statements, construction schedules, and drawings.
  • Able to resolve problems at site technically & contractually.
