We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Specialist to join our team at Power International Holding Qatar. The successful candidate will be responsible for participating in the technical and analytical work of the laboratory, liaising with supervisors on test appropriateness, and monitoring and reporting results.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Participate in the technical and analytical work of the laboratory, ensuring the accuracy and quality of test results.
  2. Liaise with supervisors on the appropriateness of tests, results, and additional testing as required.
  3. Monitor, record, and report back results, participating in discussions to rectify areas of concern.
  4. Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either correct the problem or notify the supervisor.
  5. Collect laboratory specimens and perform assigned laboratory procedures and other tests as necessary, immediately reporting abnormal findings to appropriate staff.
  6. Verify all critical results and document with accurate follow-up.
  7. Perform appropriate documentation of laboratory procedures to assure the accuracy of laboratory records.
  8. In liaison with the supervisor, ensure adequate stocks of reagents and consumables are available for the efficient running of the service.
  9. Order laboratory supplies, rotate stock, and monitor expiration dates.
  10. Operate complex automated laboratory equipment, electronic equipment, computer software, and precision instruments.
  11. In liaison with the supervisor, provide technical advice on and assist in the selection/validation of new equipment.
  12. Take responsibility for the maintenance and safe use of equipment within the section.
  13. Use the Laboratory Information System (LIS) to generate workload statistics, run queries, and assess the quality of data according to defined criteria.
  14. Ensure policies and procedures for the section are adhered to.
  15. Adhere to the Hospital standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies.
  16. Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies and procedures and document all quality control activities.
  17. Help ensure the provision of a high-quality, cost-effective service with an emphasis on quality assurance in all aspects of the section supervised.
  18. Ascertain that quality control procedures are followed prior to releasing clinical data.
  19. Participate in external quality assurance schemes that the department subscribes to.
  20. Carry out corrective action as advised when quality control procedures fail.
  21. Assist in ensuring achievement of and maintaining CAP, JCI, and ISO 15189 standards in the section.
  22. Maintain licensing and registration with Qatari authorities as a Biomedical Scientist/Technologist.
  23. Participate in the implementation of new methodologies under the direction of the supervisor.
  24. Participate in research and development as directed by the supervisor.
  25. Maintain open lines of communication with colleagues, internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective cooperation and consultation.
  26. Communicate with colleagues within the department on a range of complex subjects.
