Job Overview:

The Patient Access Director is a key leadership role responsible for setting goals, priorities, and performance standards for Patient Access functions. The successful candidate will provide strategic direction, motivation, and guidance to the department, ensuring seamless patient interactions and efficient registration processes.

Responsibilities

  • Department Leadership: Set up the Patient Access Department, including policies, procedures, and forms, to ensure compliance with hospital standards and regulations.
  • Process Development: Create clear workflows with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Staff Development: Responsible for staff development, including training, reviews of progress, and communication of findings with the Finance Department.
  • Team Management: Manage and monitor the Patient Access team in regard to their day-to-day tasks, performance appraisal, patient approach, and cash collection/reconciliation.
  • Scheduling and Task Delegation: Manage the Patient Access team scheduling and task delegation to ensure complete and full schedule coverage as per the hospital's needs and requirements.
  • Resource Allocation: Responsible for adequate staffing and allocation in all Patient Access areas and wherever is required.
  • HIPAA Compliance: Implement the Health Information Privacy and Portability Act (HIPAA) rules and approach to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Patient Experience: Monitor and manage the patient access task implementation ensuring transparency, ethical communication (internal and external clients).
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure registration audits are regularly performed to promote quality and identify root causes of issues to develop action plans for process improvement.
  • Reporting and Analytics: Sets up the required reports that need to be generated from the system to monitor performance and gaps and set up corrective actions and improvement plans.
  • Team Leadership: Builds and leads a motivated, engaged, and competent team throughout the Department, by setting priorities and objectives, managing performance, and providing ongoing feedback and coaching to improve performance.
