Data Center Engineer Job Description

At Management Solutions International MSI, we are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our IT infrastructure team, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability and security of our data center operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, support, and update Microsoft Windows Operating Systems for all workstations and servers within our network.
  • Migrate VMs from HyperV to VMWare, ensuring seamless transitions and minimal downtime.
  • Perform firmware upgrades on HPE, Cisco, and Dell servers, ensuring optimal performance and security.
  • Manage monthly HyperV patching, ensuring our systems remain up-to-date and secure.
  • Upgrade Windows OS, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance.
  • Commission new physical and virtual servers, ensuring they meet our high standards.
  • Monitor VMware Host Dashboard, identifying potential issues and taking proactive measures to prevent downtime.
  • Ensure the stability and security of our network by monitoring system performance, troubleshooting potential problems, and escalating software issues to vendors for immediate resolution.
  • Manage data center monitoring, including power, cooling, facilities, backup, and cooling systems.
  • Perform data center preventive maintenance, support escalations, and generate data center reports.
  • Participate in our 24/7 support team, rotating with other team members to address customer concerns and issues from different time zones.
  • Perform virus scans, check backup and restore logs, and ensure data integrity.
  • Manage folder permissions, create groups in Active Directory, and ensure secure access controls.
  • Manage backup jobs, check monthly backup and restore logs, and perform common folder cleanup.
  • Experience with BMC Remedy tool is a plus.
