Academic Support Specialist

This role involves supporting students through various aspects of their educational journey. The Academic Support Specialist works closely with students, faculty, and staff to ensure students receive the necessary guidance and support to succeed academically.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance and support for students facing academic challenges.
  • Assist with student records management and track student engagement.
  • Support the Academic Registry in ensuring students receive timely academic guidance and administrative assistance.
Student Engagement and Activities
  • Develop and implement programs that enhance the student experience, including orientation, academic advising, and support services.
  • Collaborate with student organizations and leadership groups to facilitate engagement and co-curricular activities.
  • Organize student feedback mechanisms such as surveys and focus groups to assess student satisfaction and areas for improvement.
Wellbeing and Inclusivity
  • Ensure students are aware of available counseling, mentorship, and wellbeing resources.
  • Assist in implementing policies that promote inclusivity, diversity, and a safe learning environment.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in education, student affairs, social sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience in student services, academic administration, or a related area in higher education is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of student engagement principles and best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Strong organizational and event planning abilities.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to handle sensitive student concerns with discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and student information systems.
