Job Summary

Talent Pal is seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our Microsoft SQL Server database instances across multiple environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Database Administration
    • Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server database instances across multiple environments, including development, testing, and production.
    • Design and implement database security policies and procedures, including user authentication, authorization, and access controls, in alignment with Active Directory standards.
    • Manage database backups, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and minimize downtime in the event of system failures or disasters.
  • Performance Optimization
    • Monitor database performance, identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, and optimize query performance to meet business requirements.
  • Integration and Collaboration
    • Collaborate with system administrators to integrate SQL Server with Active Directory for centralized authentication and access management.
  • Documentation and Support
    • Develop and maintain documentation, including installation guides, configuration guides, and troubleshooting procedures, to support ongoing administration and support activities.
    • Provide technical support and guidance to developers, analysts, and end-users on database-related issues and best practices.
  • Capacity Planning and Resource Forecasting
    • Participate in capacity planning and resource forecasting to ensure adequate storage, memory, and processing resources for database systems.
  • Professional Development
    • Stay informed about emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in database administration and make recommendations for adoption and integration into our IT environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in database administration roles with a focus on Microsoft SQL Server and Active Directory integration within a Windows Domain environment.
  • Proficiency in administering databases on Windows Server operating systems and Active Directory environments.
  • Strong understanding of database architecture design and optimization principles.
  • Experience with database security standards and best practices, including encryption, auditing, and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of database backup and recovery strategies, including full, differential, and transaction log backups.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional certifications, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, are highly desirable.
