About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Field Service Resident Engineer to join our team at Baker Hughes Qatar. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and counsel for pre-defined maintenance activities, including testing, adjustment, programming, and other similar services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform mechanical inspections of gas turbines and major auxiliaries, adhering to GE recommended procedures.
  • Handle pre-commissioning and commissioning of oil systems, starting systems, fuel gas systems, and air systems.
  • Assist buyers with regular reviews of maintenance activities and discuss mechanical-related NICs/TILs.
  • Respond to technical inquiries from buyers, utilizing GE technical support services.
  • Maintain a documented history of all mechanical modifications for covered units.
  • Support buyers' operation and maintenance staff with diagnostics, counseling, and addressing maintenance/operational issues.
  • Provide on-the-job training to buyers' operation and maintenance staff, without additional resources or costs.
  • Prepare detailed work scopes for agreed-outages, indicating recommended FSEs and manpower crews.
  • Perform equipment start-up, diagnostic, and troubleshooting tasks.
  • Conduct water wash procedures and lube oil and cooling water systems flushes, as per recommended procedures.
  • Advise on interpretation of drawings for installation optimization.
  • Work closely with instrumentation engineers during maintenance, installation, calibration, and setup of electrical instrumentation.
  • Mark up piping drawings to show piping modifications.
  • Unload and inspect gas turbine major auxiliaries at installation sites and place them on foundations.
  • Perform geometric dimensional checks of foundations, equipment, and auxiliaries skids positioning, leveling, and alignment.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in mechanical field service engineering, with experience in gas turbine maintenance and repair. You should be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
