Shipyard Mechanic

We are seeking a skilled Shipyard Mechanic to join our team at Asterix Communications. As a Shipyard Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing major and specialized mechanical overhaul and repair work on marine diesel engines.

• Test, repair, and overhaul marine engines, hydraulic systems, and bow & stern thruster units.
• Operate hand and power tools associated with marine engine and equipment.
• Propeller and tailshaft removing and refitting, and replacing of seals.
• Write specifications for and recommend purchase of marine engine spares.
• Carry out complete overhauling of all types of engines, pumps, compressors, valves, etc.
• Process, label, and secure parts of equipment, and ensure proper torque specification.
• Work independently with instruction of Mechanical Foreman/Group Leader.
• Carry out overhauling of turbochargers, removing, refitting hydraulic injection type couplings, and propellers.
• Ensure all works are carried out in a safe manner and in compliance with the division's Quality Assurance procedures and Quality Manuals.
• Diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul any type of diesel engine.

Requirements:

• High School or Secondary School, ITI certificate or similar in diesel engines, preferably marine.
• 6 years as a technician working on marine diesel engines and gearboxes.
• Ability to communicate in English.
