Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shipping Counselor to join our team in Qatar. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal support for our ship acquisitions and marine transportation activities related to the commercialization of LNG, crude & other liquid petroleum products, petrochemicals, chemicals & fertilizers.

Responsibilities:

  • Advise on the negotiation of all agreements related to the acquisition & disposal of shipping capacity;
  • Support vessel financing and any ancillary services required;
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to mitigate risks associated with shipping activities;
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards;
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in relevant laws and regulations affecting the shipping industry.

Requirements:

  • At least ten years' experience in private practice or in-house;
  • Strong legal (including drafting) skills;
  • Experience of dealing with regulators and government representatives;
  • Ability to assimilate complex legal matters and provide practical advice to non-lawyers;
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team player;
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft 365 suite of applications.
