Job Overview

We seek a seasoned Financial Analyst to drive our budget control and accounts payable activities. This role requires exceptional analytical skills, technical expertise, and a keen eye for detail to ensure efficient financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Taxonomy Development
    • Collaborate with department leads to finalize standardized categories (e.g., Tech, Marketing, Operations).
    • Evaluate each category's alignment with financial reporting requirements.
  • Budget and PO Mapping
    • Collect all open purchase orders and invoices from relevant teams.
    • Transform existing categorizations into our new taxonomy.
    • Verify data integrity and confirm correct budget lines for each PO.
  • Accounts Payable
    • Oversight of the end-to-end AP cycle, from invoice receipt and verification to payment scheduling and reconciliation.
    • Cooperation with vendors and internal stakeholders to address invoice discrepancies, maintain AP aging, and ensure timely and accurate payments.
    • Implementation of controls to prevent payment delays and discrepancies, while maintaining strong supplier relationships.
  • Excel Tool Creation
    • Design and build an Excel workbook summarizing each budget line, including PR balance, PO balance, and actual costs.
    • Update available budget by subtracting encumbrances (PR + PO) and actual spend.
    • Flag potential budget overruns or variances.
    • Develop user-friendly features such as dropdown menus, pivot tables, or built-in analytics/visualizations.
    • Automate data refreshes (e.g., via macros or external data links) when possible.
  • Analysis and Reporting and Cost Control
    • Present budget utilization reports periodically, highlighting variances or risks, and propose corrective actions.
    • Monitor ongoing spend against targets, identifying cost-drivers and recommending cost-saving measures where necessary.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to reconcile differences and update the model accordingly.
    • Establish and refine standardized cost control processes for enhanced efficiency and transparency.
  • Process Improvement
    • Recommend workflow enhancements, such as integrating the Excel tool with purchase order systems for real-time updates.
    • Document processes to ensure knowledge transfer once the contract ends.
    • Enhance financial procedures related to budgeting, AP, and cost control to maintain compliance and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in finance or accounting roles, preferably in a fintech or technology setting.
  • Advanced Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, macros/VBA).
  • Prior experience in mapping and reorganizing accounting or financial data across multiple systems.
  • Understanding of P2P (Procure-to-pay) process and encumbrances (PR, PO, Invoice cycle).

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Preferred: Qualified Accountant (CA, CPA, ACCA, CIMA, CMA).
  • Solid accounting foundation - familiar with GL structures, budgeting, accruals.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
