Job Summary

Asterix Communications is seeking a highly skilled Naval Architect to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise in the design and construction of large vessels.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and Development: Provide technical expertise in the areas of hull structural design, hull arrangements, hull outfitting, and general design areas involving proven naval architectural skills.
  2. Plan Review and Approval: Serve as a primary point of contact in the plan approval team in these areas during the design development phases of the various newbuilding programs.
  3. Team Leadership: Supervise various contract technical personnel that may be assigned specific design development and/or plan review tasks in his area of expertise.
  4. Vendor Management: Assist in vendor review, approval, and selection for major items of equipment falling in his area of expertise.
  5. Issue Identification: Identify any special issues that may be of significance to the Engineering Manager and the Team Leader(s) as may be applicable.
  6. Cost and Design Optimization: Identify cost changes and design changes that may improve the vessel's design to the Engineering Manager and Team Leader(s) for consideration for approval.
  7. Collaboration: Coordinate efforts with the other members of the Core Technical Pool as required.
  8. Interface Management: Coordinate efforts with the terminal and Ship-Shore Interface personnel as required.
Requirements
  1. Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Naval Architecture.
  2. Experience: Minimum eight (8) years' experience in the design and construction of large vessels, including at least five (5) years involved with the design and construction of LNG carriers or equivalent experience.
  3. Skills: Excellent written and spoken English language skills, excellent interpersonal skills, good problem-solving skills, and proficiency in the use of word processor, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
