Senior Operations Engineer - Drilling or Workover

Fircroft is seeking a highly skilled Senior Operations Engineer to join our team in Qatar. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the design of wells, preparation of drilling or workover programmes, and providing engineering support during the execution phase of a well.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement drilling and workover programmes to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  2. Conduct thorough reviews of offset well data to identify potential drilling problems and develop mitigation strategies.
  3. Collaborate with the HSE team to develop and implement effective health, safety, and environmental management systems.
  4. Monitor and support drilling operations on assigned rigs, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  5. Review and approve draft well and workover proposals to ensure they meet company standards and regulatory requirements.
  6. Coordinate with drilling services contractors to ensure timely and effective execution of drilling operations.
  7. Provide on-site engineering support to drilling teams, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
  8. Develop and maintain accurate and detailed well drilling, workover, and completion reports.
  9. Train and mentor junior engineers to develop their skills and knowledge.

Key Skills and Attributes:

  1. Strong educational background in a relevant field, such as petroleum engineering or a related discipline.
  2. IWCF certification at Supervisor level.
  3. Minimum 10 years of experience in drilling operations engineering, including 2 years of well site operations experience.
  4. Expertise in well design, completions, well control, and wellbore construction.
  5. Proficiency in drilling engineering software, such as Compass, Well Plan, Stress Check, and Casing Seat.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
  7. Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions.
  8. Desirable: previous experience working in the Middle East region.
