Roles and responsibilities

Aman Hospital is a premier healthcare facility in Qatar, dedicated to providing exceptional care to our patients. Our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and staffed by a team of skilled professionals committed to the health and well-being of our youngest patients.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver high-quality nursing care to neonates in the NICU.
Monitor and assess the condition of patients, including vital signs.
Administer medications and treatments in accordance with care plans.
Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care.
Educate and support families about their infants' conditions and care.
Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and documentation.
Participate in ongoing education, quality improvement initiatives, and staff development.
Assessment and Monitoring
Monitoring Vital Signs: Continuously monitor the newborn's vital signs, including heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and temperature, ensuring the baby is stable.
Assessing Growth and Development: Track the infant's weight, growth milestones, and developmental progress, noting any abnormalities or concerns.
Observing and Recording: Document changes in the baby's condition, feeding patterns, and any issues related to medical equipment or medications.
Administering Medications and Treatments
Medication Administration: Administer prescribed medications (e.g., antibiotics, pain medications, or respiratory support) as per the physician's orders.
IV and Fluid Management: Insert intravenous lines and manage fluid and electrolyte balance for infants who are unable to take oral fluids or require medication via IV.
Oxygen and Respiratory Support: Provide respiratory assistance to infants who have breathing difficulties, such as administering supplemental oxygen, CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure), or mechanical ventilation.

Desired candidate profile

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or equivalent.
Current nursing license in Qatar (or eligibility for licensure).
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a NICU setting.
Strong clinical skills and knowledge of neonatal care protocols.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Providing Specialized Care for Premature and Ill Newborns
Premature Infant Care: Care for premature babies (preemies), who may require intensive support such as incubators, temperature regulation, and feeding assistance.
Respiratory Support: NICU nurses assist in managing conditions like respiratory distress syndrome, ensuring the baby receives adequate oxygen levels.
Feeding Assistance: Help with feeding preterm infants or those who have difficulty sucking, often using feeding tubes, bottles, or breast milk fortifiers.
Managing Birth Defects: Work with physicians to care for infants born with congenital abnormalities or birth defects.
Family Support and Education
Providing Emotional Support: Support parents and family members emotionally, as having an infant in the NICU can be a stressful and overwhelming experience.
Family Education: Teach parents how to care for their premature or sick infant, including how to handle, feed, and bond with the baby. Provide guidance on follow-up care after discharge.
Guiding Parents through Procedures: Help parents understand the treatments and procedures their infant is undergoing, and reassure them about their baby's progress.
