Roles and responsibilities

Relevant to Upstream Process Technologies, elaborate, define, size and validate (within a process team) the various items,
units and technical deliverables to be implemented in the Project


• Work under the supervision of the Project Process Lead

Tasks


• Develop Heat and Material Balances using simulation software


• Develop Process Flow diagrams to show unit operations necessary to convert feedstocks into on-specification products, in
the most economical manner


• Define and size Equipment and Instrumentation to be implemented and issue relevant Process Data sheets and Package
Duty Specification


• Elaborate Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P and IDs)


• Elaborate Cause and Effect Matrix


• Develop Control Narratives and Logic Sequences for the assigned systems


• Perform hydraulic and thermal calculations on piping systems, in steady state and transient operation


• Define the utilities requirements and design the associated systems


• Define the chemicals and catalysts requirements for the assigned systems and prepare the relevant summary


• Define quantities and characteristics of effluents to be disposed to the environment


• Support the preparation of Operating Manual and Test Run procedures


• Implement contractual design philosophy


• Check technical quality of calculations, sw simulations and deliverables produced as per Company Quality System


• Take part of the multidisciplinary project reviews such as Plot Plan, P and IDs, HAZOP, 3D Model
Process Design and Optimization:
Design Process Systems: Develop, design, and implement process systems for oil and gas operations, such as drilling, extraction, refining, and transportation.
Optimize Existing Systems: Identify opportunities for process optimization to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and increase output without compromising safety or quality.
Simulate and Model Processes: Use simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) to model complex processes and predict performance under different conditions.
Improve Process Efficiency: Analyze process data to identify inefficiencies, then design modifications or improvements to optimize throughput, reduce energy consumption, and lower operating costs.
Project Management:
Coordinate Process Engineering Projects: Oversee and manage the engineering and design of new process systems or the modification of existing systems, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.
Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with other engineers, project managers, operations personnel, and contractors to ensure the successful execution of projects.
Prepare Documentation: Create and maintain detailed project documentation, including specifications, engineering drawings, process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and operation manuals.
Monitor Project Progress: Track the progress of engineering projects, ensuring that milestones are met and that any issues are addressed promptly.

Desired candidate profile

Min 15 years experience in the industry.
Experience based on platforms. FPSO would also be considered.
Sizing calculation: Vessel, tank, piping, pumps.
P and ID.
Process calculation.
Safety and Environmental Compliance:
Ensure Process Safety: Ensure that the design and operation of oil and gas processing facilities meet safety standards, such as those outlined by OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory bodies.
Risk Analysis and Safety Management: Conduct hazard and risk assessments, including HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Study) to identify potential risks and implement safety measures to mitigate those risks.
Environmental Impact: Design and operate systems to minimize environmental impact, ensuring compliance with local and international environmental regulations related to emissions, waste, and water usage.
Monitor Safety Systems: Oversee the implementation and maintenance of safety systems, such as emergency shutdown procedures, flare systems, and pressure relief systems.
. Process Troubleshooting and Technical Support:
Troubleshoot Process Issues: Investigate and diagnose problems with equipment, processes, and systems, providing solutions to restore operations efficiently.
Provide Technical Support: Provide technical support to operations teams and maintenance personnel, assisting with the identification and resolution of issues in processing facilities.
Root Cause Analysis: Conduct root cause analysis of process failures or inefficiencies and recommend corrective actions to improve long-term performance.
Design and Equipment Selection:
Select Equipment: Evaluate and select process equipment such as pumps, compressors, separators, and heat exchangers, ensuring they meet process specifications and operational requirements.
Design for Reliability: Work to ensure that the equipment and systems are designed for reliability, ease of maintenance, and long-term performance.
Material Selection: Choose appropriate materials for construction and design, considering factors such as corrosion resistance, temperature, pressure, and cost.
