Roles and responsibilities

Data Integration & Governance: Lead initiatives in data integration, management, and cybersecurity, utilizing advanced tools like Data Catalogs, MDM, and Data Quality frameworks.
Collaboration: Partner with Data Owners to implement effective governance processes, frameworks, and forums.
Standards & Policies: Develop and enforce enterprise-level data governance policies, metadata standards, and SOPs to ensure compliance and quality.
Risk & Cybersecurity: Build and execute governance and cybersecurity strategies, including risk assessments, mitigation plans, and awareness programs.
Frameworks & Tools: Implement industry frameworks like DAMA, NIST, and COBIT to standardize governance practices.
Self-Service BI: Lay the foundation for an enterprise-wide self-service BI suite, ensuring adherence to robust data protocols.
Develop and Implement Data Governance Strategies:

Design, implement, and maintain a comprehensive data governance framework that aligns with business objectives and ensures data quality, security, and compliance across the organization.
Lead efforts to ensure adherence to data governance policies across all business units and departments.
Establish Data Governance Policies and Standards:

Define and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures to govern data quality, security, access, and privacy.
Ensure the organization's data management practices are aligned with best practices and industry regulations.
Data Quality Assurance:

Develop and implement processes for ensuring high-quality data across the organization, including data validation, data cleansing, and data enrichment.
Establish data stewardship programs to maintain consistent and accurate data throughout the organization's lifecycle.
Ensure Compliance with Regulatory Standards:

Ensure the organization's data governance practices meet relevant data privacy and protection laws, such as GDPR, CCPA, or HIPAA.
Develop and maintain processes for auditing and monitoring data for compliance with industry regulations and internal policies.

Desired candidate profile

Experience: 5+ years in fast-paced organizations (start-up experience preferred).
Education: STEM graduate with a strong foundation in data management and analytics.
Technical Skills: Expertise in Google's data tech stack and open-source solutions.
Mindset: Analytical thinker with a passion for problem-solving and a keen focus on growth.
Data Governance Frameworks:

Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks and methodologies, such as DAMA-DMBOK, GDPR, ISO 8000, and COBIT.
Ability to establish and maintain effective data governance policies and processes to ensure high data quality, security, and compliance.
Data Quality Management:

Expertise in ensuring data quality across the organization by implementing data validation, consistency checks, and data cleaning processes.
Ability to design and manage processes for data monitoring, and data stewardship to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data.
Data Security & Compliance:

In-depth understanding of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) and the ability to ensure compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
Experience in data security practices to protect data from breaches and unauthorized access, including secure access controls and encryption.
Data Lifecycle Management:

Knowledge of data lifecycle management principles to oversee the creation, storage, usage, retention, and disposal of data in accordance with governance policies.
Proficient in managing metadata, data classification, and data lineage to understand data flow across systems.
