Roles and responsibilities

1. Planning and Delivering Lessons

  • Develop engaging lesson plans that meet the curriculum requirements for various subjects, including English, math, science, history, geography, art, and physical education.
  • Deliver lessons that cater to the developmental needs of primary-aged children, making them interactive and engaging through a range of activities such as games, songs, group work, and hands-on learning.
  • Ensure that lessons are differentiated to meet the needs of all learners, providing support for students who need additional help and challenges for more advanced learners.
  • Incorporate cross-curricular learning, helping students make connections between subjects and understand the real-world applications of their learning.

2. Assessment and Monitoring Progress

  • Assess students' learning regularly through formal and informal methods such as quizzes, classwork, homework, group activities, and individual tasks.
  • Track individual and group progress, noting areas of improvement and identifying where students may need additional support.
  • Provide constructive feedback that helps students improve, encouraging them to take pride in their work and progress.
  • Prepare students for formal assessments such as national tests or school-specific assessments in subjects like math, English, and science.
  • Keep detailed records of student progress and achievements and report this information to parents, school leadership, and other relevant stakeholders.

3. Classroom Management

  • Establish clear routines and set expectations for behavior, ensuring that students understand what is expected of them in terms of classroom conduct and respect for others.
  • Create a positive, supportive classroom environment where students feel safe, valued, and motivated to learn.
  • Use positive reinforcement to encourage good behavior and academic effort, while also applying appropriate strategies for addressing behavioral challenges.
  • Foster a culture of respect, inclusivity, and kindness, promoting social skills such as cooperation, empathy, and conflict resolution.
Desired candidate profile

An educational degree, such as Bachelor's in Education Degree or related field.
A certified teaching qualification such PGCE, QTS with an Early Career Teaching Certificate or equivalent (the PGCE must be accompanied by a subject relevant Bachelor's Degree)
Minimum two years of teaching experience (international experience is an advantage but not required)
Exceptional subject knowledge, with extensive experience of teaching the British National Curriculum.
A passion for fostering a student-centered learning environment.
A commitment to professional growth and a collaborative approach to teaching.
A proven track record of providing outstanding teaching and learning.
A commitment to actively participate in extracurricular activities after school hours.
Differentiation and Support for Diverse Learners
Adapt teaching methods to meet the individual needs of students, including those with special educational needs (SEN), gifted students, or students who speak English as an additional language (EAL).
Offer personalized learning opportunities, ensuring that each child is challenged appropriately and has the support they need to succeed.
Work closely with learning support assistants and other specialists to provide targeted interventions and ensure all students have access to the curriculum.
Identify and provide additional support for students who may be struggling with certain subjects or emotional and social challenges.
