Weapons Supervisor

The Weapons senior supervisor is responsible to the rectification controller and should be an experienced and skilled armament technician undertaking a range of detailed maintenance activities on the Typhoon aircraft or aircraft components.
They will be responsible for maintaining airworthiness through appropriate task delegation and authorisation on an aircraft or aircraft component. Responsible for meeting agreed delivery targets at a tactical level. Demonstrates people management and leadership skills. Demonstrates awareness of broader external dependencies and identifies areas for continuous improvement.
They should be able to demonstrate a distinct ability to analyse and diagnose faults to the Typhoon, equipment and assemblies, follow diagnostic procedures and work effectively within a team. Providing guidance to less experienced team members in a diverse and dynamic operational environment.
Core Activity
- Undertake and complete tasked maintenance & diagnostic activities on the Typhoon or weapons systems/components which may include, as appropriate, aircraft ground handling, flight servicing, aircraft role changes, embodiments, component removals, inspections, repairs, modifications, fault rectifications, replacements and/or functional/system test
- Undertaking detailed maintenance, inspection and supervision activities on an aircraft or aircraft components. Assuring work carried out has been completed in accordance with the SOW / Work package using the relevant approved technical information. Resolving faults and maintenance issues, including an awareness of configuration management
- Supervising the team to ensure that maintenance is undertaken to schedule and highlight any issues, escalate as required. Report on any impact to the wider programme
- Ensuring staff are sufficiently competent and approved for the maintenance tasks allocated to them. Maintain personal & teams task authorisation for working on an aircraft or components in accordance with AMC requirements
- Undertaking support tasks within the Aircraft or component maintenance facility which are required to maintain compliance with the MOE and AMC procedures (e.g. oversight checks, control of tooling / test equipment)
- Provide guidance and leadership to the team. Develop team members using formal assessment processes, e.g. PDR's, support and sponsor training requests including 'on the job training'. Demonstrate sound and comprehensive communication and people management skills in order to exchange complicated information
- Undertaking fault evaluation and raise ad hoc work cards and for 'found faults' during maintenance
- Ability to scope and carry out independent and vital inspections
- Demonstrating a flexible and proactive attitude to carrying out responsibilities appropriate to the role and tasks
- Maintaining personal & teams task authorisation for working on the Typhoon or components in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Ensuring that maintenance is undertaken to schedule and resolve any issues, escalate as required
- Ensuring all maintenance activities are appropriately documented and airworthiness records are maintained on relevant systems (IT/paper based). Compile required reporting, identify any issues and escalate as appropriate
- Providing support and guidance, including allocation of tasks to appropriately authorised maintenance technicians
- Compiling appropriate reporting, identification of any issues, resolving and escalating as appropriate to ensure the maintenance servicing remains on schedule
- Providing OJT aligned to the role training specification to QAF candidate
Weapons and Ammunition Management
Supervise Weapons Handling: Oversee the safe handling, storage, and transportation of weapons and ammunition. Ensure all personnel adhere to safety protocols and regulations.
Weapons Inspection and Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of weapons systems and related equipment to ensure they are in good working order. Coordinate repairs or upgrades as needed.
Inventory Management: Manage and track the inventory of weapons, ammunition, and related equipment. Maintain accurate records of stock levels, usage, and replenishment needs.
Ammunition Distribution: Ensure proper distribution of ammunition for training exercises, combat operations, or other defense-related activities.
Safety and Compliance
Enforce Safety Standards: Ensure that all weapons handling and ammunition storage practices comply with military safety regulations and standards. This includes overseeing the safe use of firearms, explosives, and other weapon systems during training and operations.
Training on Safety Procedures: Provide training for personnel on safe weapons handling and the proper use of weapons systems to prevent accidents or misuse.
Compliance with Regulations: Ensure all weapon-related activities comply with local, national, and international laws, including rules of engagement and weapon treaties or restrictions.
