Roles and responsibilities

1. Planning and Delivering Lessons

  • Develop lesson plans that are engaging, well-structured, and aligned with the curriculum and exam specifications.
  • Deliver lessons on various business topics, such as business management, marketing, finance, entrepreneurship, economics, accounting, and business law.
  • Ensure lessons are differentiated to meet the diverse learning needs of students, including those with special educational needs or varying levels of prior knowledge.
  • Incorporate a range of teaching methods and resources, such as case studies, interactive activities, role-playing, and practical exercises, to make the learning process dynamic and relevant.

2. Assessment and Evaluation

  • Assess students' progress regularly through a variety of formative and summative assessments (e.g., quizzes, assignments, essays, presentations, mock exams).
  • Provide constructive feedback to students on their work, helping them understand how to improve and achieve better results.
  • Use data from assessments to track individual and class progress, adjusting teaching methods and content where necessary.
  • Prepare students for external examinations (e.g., GCSEs, A-levels, BTECs) or assessments in business-related subjects, ensuring they are well-prepared for these important milestones.

3. Classroom Management

  • Establish and maintain a positive classroom environment where students feel respected, motivated, and engaged in their learning.
  • Implement effective behavior management strategies to maintain discipline in the classroom and ensure all students are focused on their learning.
  • Encourage a growth mindset by motivating students to take responsibility for their learning and embrace challenges in the subject.
Desired candidate profile

An educational degree, such as Bachelor's in Education Degree or related field.
A certified teaching qualification such PGCE, QTS with an Induction Certificate or equivalent (the PGCE must be accompanied by a subject relevant Bachelor's Degree)
Minimum two years of teaching experience (international experience is an advantage but not required)
Exceptional subject knowledge, with extensive experience of teaching the British National Curriculum in every key stage.
A passion for fostering a student-centered learning environment.
A commitment to professional growth and a collaborative approach to teaching.
A proven track record of providing outstanding teaching and learning.
A commitment to actively participate in extracurricular activities after school hours
Providing Support and Guidance
Offer individualized support to students who may be struggling with the content, helping them to improve their understanding and performance.
Provide mentoring and pastoral care, offering guidance on academic and personal matters, including advice on career pathways in business or further education.
Offer enrichment opportunities, such as work experience placements, business competitions, or industry visits, to give students a deeper insight into the business world.
