**Role Overview**

The Application Technician will perform 3D scanning of mechanical components and industrial equipment for reverse engineering, quality inspection, and digital modeling. A solid understanding of industrial equipment function and repair is required to ensure accurate scanning. The technician will handle scanning equipment, process scan data, and collaborate with engineers to ensure high-quality outputs.

**Key Responsibilities**
- ** 3D Scanning**:

- Set up and operate 3D scanners (structured light, laser, photogrammetry).
- Perform detailed scans and handle components and equipment properly.
- Understand equipment functions for better scanning accuracy and context.
- ** Safety & Work Environment**:

- Follow safety protocols and conduct risk assessments at customer sites.
- Establish a secure work environment, using PPE, and maintain communication with site supervisors.
- ** Data Processing & Modelling**:

- Process scan data and generate accurate 3D models.
- Collaborate with engineers to validate models against specifications.
- ** Equipment Knowledge**:

- Understand key components and their role in equipment operation.
- Provide inputs on tolerancing (GD&T) and identification of functional areas to ensure accurate scans.
- Provide technical insights into manufacturing, repair, and servicing based on scanned models.
- ** Documentation & Maintenance**:

- Document processes and maintain accurate records.
- Perform routine maintenance and ensure proper calibration of scanning tools.
- ** Quality Control & Metrology**:

- Ensure models meet required accuracy and quality standards using basic metrology principles.
- Generate reports based on scan results and quality analysis.
- ** Continuous Improvement**:

- Stay informed on new technologies in 3D scanning and recommend workflow improvements.

**Required Skills and Qualifications**
- ** Education**: Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- ** Experience**:

- 2+ years in 3D scanning and data processing.
- Proven experience in scanning and reverse-engineering in the following industries: heavy industry, energy, mining, aerospace, or automotive.
- ** Skills**:

- Proficiency in 3D scanning and modeling software.
- Knowledge of industrial equipment servicing and metrology principles, including GD&T.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills.

**Physical & Environmental Conditions**
- Ability to work in warehouse and workshop environments, handling industrial components during scanning operations.
