**Fire Alarm Technician Job Duties**
- Install fire alarm systems, including wiring, panels, and devices such as smoke detectors, pull stations, and audio/visual alarms, following blueprints and manufacturer’s specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on existing fire alarm systems to ensure they are functioning correctly and comply with local, state, and national codes.
- Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in fire alarm systems, identifying issues through diagnostic tests and repairing or replacing faulty components as necessary.
- Program fire alarm control panels and devices, ensuring proper communication and operation within the system.
- Conduct fire alarm system tests, including sensitivity testing, battery calculations, and load testing, to verify the proper operation of all components.
- Prepare and maintain detailed documentation, including installation diagrams, maintenance records, and inspection reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Train clients or building occupants on the proper use and maintenance of fire alarm systems, including emergency response protocols.
- Coordinate with fire departments and other emergency services during installations, inspections, and maintenance to ensure systems meet their requirements and facilitate prompt response in case of an alarm.
