**Job Summary**:
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Fish Preparation**: Clean, gut, fillet, and portion a variety of fish and seafood according to customer preferences and safety standards.
- **Customer Service**: Greet customers, answer their questions about seafood products, and provide cooking tips and product recommendations.
- **Sales**: Weigh, price, and package fish and seafood products for customers. Process payments and manage transactions at the counter.
- **Display Management**: Arrange and replenish seafood displays, ensuring products are fresh, attractively presented, and properly labeled.
- **Inventory Management**: Monitor stock levels, assist in ordering seafood products, and ensure proper storage to maintain freshness.
- **Sanitation and Safety**: Maintain cleanliness of the work area, including cutting boards, knives, scales, and refrigeration units. Adhere to food safety standards and sanitation regulations.
- **Product Knowledge**: Stay informed about the different types of fish and seafood, including their origins, seasonality, and best preparation methods.
- **Waste Reduction**: Minimize waste by carefully cutting and storing products, ensuring all items are used efficiently.
**Required Skills and Qualifications**:
- Experience working with fish and seafood products (or willingness to learn).
- Knowledge of different fish species, filleting techniques, and seafood preparation.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Basic math skills for weighing and pricing products.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs).
- Knowledge of health, safety, and food hygiene regulations.
**Preferred Qualifications**:
- Previous experience as a fishmonger, butcher, or in a food service role.
- Familiarity with seafood seasonality and sustainability practices.
- Ability to use specialized tools (e.g., filleting knives, scales) safely and efficiently.
**Physical Requirements**:
- Ability to stand for long periods, handle cold temperatures, and lift heavy fish or seafood products.
- Comfortable working with sharp knives and other cutting tools in a fast-paced environment.
